NOT FOR THE DOGGY PIGGIES!
Are there things too valued to offer a certain type of people? Things too pure and too holy to entrust to the care of some certain folks? What could those things be? What kind of people should they not be shared with? And what are the dangers that lie in sharing such things with them?
Jesus responds to the above questions like this:
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you (Matthew 7:6).
In other words, Jesus is saying that no matter how you adore your dogs, holy and sacred things are not for them. He is emphasizing that your treasured pearls should not be found among your pig’s dressing. He warns that such foolishness and recklessness do not pass without a grave repercussion – they will first of all trample those precious things under their feet and then turn around and tear you into pieces!
Kindness is a good gesture, but if the what doesn’t match with the who, you may be getting a disgrace instead of a praise. Yes, if what you are offering doesn’t match the need and the nature of the target recipient, you may be shocked by what you will get as a response.
Everything may be for dogs, but please not sacred things! In the same way, feel free to give anything to pigs – they eat everything!
But please not your pearls.
Why?
It’s not their thing. It will steer up the animal in them. Thus instead of appreciation, a big kiss, a thank you party, they will rubbish them under their feet, and worse still, turn around and tear you to pieces.
